The company has struggled to make headway in its quest to build out its workforce amid a global shake-up that has resulted in layoffs and a spate of data breaches.
Facebook said Tuesday it hired more than 300 workers at its new headquarters in Menlo Park, California.
It said it expects to employ about 1,100 workers in the first quarter.
The company also said it is hiring people for positions in the San Francisco Bay Area, as well as in Atlanta and Washington.
The hiring spree came as the company said it had been unable to hire enough workers to meet the hiring needs of its new employees.
The U.S. Labor Department said it could not provide details on the hiring efforts because they are confidential.
Facebook is expected to have more than 200,000 employees by the end of 2019.
