Gopher basketball recruits gopher to join Adidas in Adidas deal

By Steve Bensinger | National Geographic ContributorThe Gophers basketball program has recruited one of its top players, former Oregon quarterback Nate Sudfeld, to join the NBA team’s Development League affiliate in Las Vegas.

Sudfeld, a 6-foot-5, 225-pound senior who is the No. 8 overall player in the 2017 recruiting class by 247Sports Composite, is rated as the No, 2-ranked prospect in the D-League and the No 14 player overall in the nation.

The 6-10, 230-pounder is ranked as the fifth-best player in his class by Rivals and No. 7 overall by Scout.

He is also No. 3 on 247Sports Top 100 list.

Sudsfeld was the No-1 overall player and No 6-7 player in Oregon’s 2017 class, which also included former Oregon head coach Chip Kelly and current NBA All-Star guard Lonzo Ball.

Sudafeld, who was a walk-on at Oregon in 2018-19, was a second-round pick of the Portland Trail Blazers in the 2016 NBA Draft.

He spent two seasons at the University of Nevada-Las Vegas, where he played in all 28 games.

He also played professionally in the Dominican Republic, Italy and Turkey.
