OHIO STATE hires former Ohio State football coach Chris Petersen to replace Rich Rodriguez

OHIO (CBS4) — The Ohio State Board of Regents has hired former Ohio Sports Network head coach Chris Peterson to replace the longtime coach Rich Rodriguez.

Rodriguez announced his retirement last month after a 35-year coaching career that included head coaching at Penn State, Ohio State, Michigan State and Ohio.

Peterson is expected to take over as Ohio State’s interim coach for the Big Ten Championship Game against Michigan on Saturday.

In addition to his coaching duties at Ohio State and Penn State — the two schools that won their respective conference championships under Rodriguez — Peterson has coached the Ohio State basketball program since 2008.
